Best for: Owners renovating a home who need power on site
When a home is being renovated we cannot disconnect a permanent meter ourselves - Western Power must attend. We install the temporary pole, coordinate with Western Power, and reinstate the meter once the renovation is complete.
What's included
- Installation of the temporary pole (long pole or dwarf pole)
- Coordination with Western Power on site
- Reinstatement of the meter on completion (dwarf pole) or coordination with your electrician (long pole)
Requirements
- Property undergoing renovation
- Meter number currently installed on property
How it works
- We install the temporary pole and arrange for Western Power to attend
- Western Power disconnects the permanent meter from the house and relocates it onto our pole
- Power is available throughout the renovation
- On completion: for dwarf poles we move the meter back into the house meter box; for long pole connections your electrician completes the reconnection
Important notes
- We are only permitted to disconnect permanent meters on building sites, never directly from an occupied home - Western Power must attend.
